Mt FUJI  opens to Hikers
Mt Fuji Climbing
Mt Fuji is Japan's highest mountain at 3,776m (12,460 ft). The a snow-capped conical volcano was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 2013. This iconic giant opens to hikers from 1 July to 10 September 2022, and peak season lasts from late July to late August. Trails are most crowded during the Obon holidays, which usually fall in the middle of August, and can be closed due to rain or wind, so time your ascent carefully. Many hikers opt for a two-day journey, resting at a hut halfway up the mountain before departing for the summit in the early morning hours. This plan puts you at the top in time for the picturesque sunrise. There are several summit trails to climb Mt. Fuji on. The Yoshida route is the easiest in terms of the number of mountain huts available to hikers for rest. The Fujinomiya Route is the shortest route to the summit. However, climbing the steep and rocky slopes near the summit is tough, and none of the courses are simple undertaking. It requires a lot of physical strength, so it is advisable to train for mountaineering regularly.
